Lester F. Lau, Principal Scientific Research Advisor
Lester earned his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from Cornell University and he is currently a Professor of the Molecular Genetics Department in the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He was awarded the American Cancer Society Junior Faculty Award in 1991 and University Scholar Award in the Biomedical Sciences from the University of Illinois in 1995. He is on the Editorial Board of Molecular & Cellular Biology and Experimental Cell Research. He is the co-inventor of 5 issued US patents (covering the CCN protein technology platform) assigned to the MUNIN Corporation and is the key discoverer of Cyr61 as a member of the CCN protein family which comprise a key set of signaling molecules used by tumors to enhance tumor growth and induce blood vessel growth towards the tumor mass.
